Tim Burton
Caught the last weekend of this great exhibition in Toronto. It was inspiring in a couple ways. It was incredible to see the original sketches that some of my favorite films were built around. I also found it interesting to see the great volumes of meticulous work that were never even used. Turns out The Black Cauldron could have been much more amazing had Disney decided to use any of Mr. Burton's ideas. This is the same show that originated at MOMA. The next destination is the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, staring May 29. Highly recommended, especially in the southern California sun.

New Work by Amy Ferrari
Last Friday I attended an opening for artist Amy Ferarri at the Cambridge Center for the Arts. The show featured beautiful landscapes. Some were very abstract like the painting shown above "Streaming Through March", while others were more representational. The overall impression was reminiscent of Van Gogh, but the patterns were composed of larger shapes that reminded me of Picasso. All of them exemplified a gorgeous use of color that was very welcome during the frozen white winter. More of her work can be seen at her website.
